Sending ACT and SAT scores to colleges

Hi everyone! I've taken both the ACT and SAT. I'm wondering how I send my scores to colleges? Should I send both or just one? And what's the process like? Thanks in advance!

Hi! If you've taken both the ACT and SAT, you have a few options for sending your scores to colleges.

First, decide which scores you want to send. If one of your scores (either ACT or SAT) is significantly stronger than the other, you may want to focus on sending that one. You can also research the colleges you're applying to and see if they have a preference or if their admitted students' average scores for one test are more in line with your scores. If both of your scores are strong and within the range for your target schools, you could choose to send both; however, it's not necessary, and sending just your stronger score is perfectly fine.

To send your SAT scores, you can do this through the College Board website. When you log in, you'll be able to select the colleges you want to send your scores to, and for a fee, the College Board will send official score reports to those institutions. Note that some colleges allow self-reporting of test scores on your application, and only require official score reports if you're accepted and decide to enroll. Make sure to check each school's policy.

For the ACT, you'll also need to visit their website to send scores. Log in to your ACT account, choose "Send Your Scores," and enter the colleges you want to send your scores to. Like with the SAT, there is a fee for sending official ACT score reports.

When sending your scores, be mindful of each college's application deadlines and give enough time for the official score reports to be received and processed. It typically takes 10-14 business days for your scores to be sent to colleges.

Good luck with your college applications!
